Hot on the heels of the BMW 3 series and the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class come the all-new Audi A4. The new generation ‘baby’ Audi is now on sale in India with two engine options – a 2.0-litre common rail diesel engine producing 141.5 bhp and a 3.2-litre V6 FSI petrol engine with 262 bhp of peak power. Both cars will later be joined by 1.8-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.7-litre diesel engine, by early next year.
The new Audi A4 is based on the same platform as the A5 coupe and the manufacture claims the car to have a body shell that is stiffer than the outgoing car and has more space on the inside too. Quattro comes standard on the 3.2-litre engine.
The car though has become pricey. The 2.0-litre diesel is available for Rs 30.30 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai and the 3.2 V6 for an even higher Rs 37.62 lakh. The diesel and petrol come with option packs for Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh respectively, and feature larger wheels, acoustic parking sensors and a high-end music system among others.
