Skoda Fabia Combi-Ng
Combi-Ng Operation

Skoda Auto is fast expanding its portfolio in India. While the Fabia has managed to bring some sort of volumes to Czech based company, they are planning to bring in more cars. The Superb gets replaced next year with a new model and apart from the Roomster, the Fabia Combi is also being seriously considered for India.

The Combi is an estate version of the Fabia, the second such Combi on sale after the Octavia Combi. This large estate is being considered for an Indian launch, and it seems the company would like to get it to India if volumes justify the sale of such a car. The Octavia Combi hasn’t enjoyed much success, with sales standing at single digit units a month since launch. The feasibility study is also considering not only customer views, but is also in the process of looking at some sort of excise duty benefits by re engineering the car, though that seems unlikely, since at 4.24 metres long, it might just not be able to make the four metre cut.

On the inside, expect space to be the same as the hatchback, with the added benefit of a large boot. The car might be powered by the 1.9L turbocharged diesel engine from the Octavia, with 90bhp to keep the selling price under consideration, though if the car does manage to make the four metre excise duty benefit stipulation; it might also feature the Fabia hatchbacks smaller 1.4L diesel and petrol engines.

Given the lackluster sale of estates in India, Skoda might find the going tough and with a possible price tag in the region of rupees 8-9lakh for the Combi and even more preposition.
