Opel Flexstreme
From Volt to Flexstreme

The Opel Flexstreme is the follow-up for Chevrolet Volt, first seen at the Detroit Show in January. The same E-Flex series-hybrid architecture lies beneath the low line minivan body and the Volt's gasoline engine range extender has been replaced by a 1.3-litre turbo-diesel. It is named Opel as a courtesy to GM's German subsidiary at its home show and also to emphasise the global application of the E-Flex plug-in hybrid system which is targeted for production in 2010. Electric propulsion is also signaled by the two foldable Segway personal mobility units that are accommodated under the trunk floor, though it is admitted that these pricey items might spoil E-Flex claims of being the ultimate economy vehicle.
