Maruti Suzuki plans to launch the Jimny as an entry level SUV in India by the year end. The vehicle will be positioned between the Gypsy (available on order) and the Grand Vitara. Abroad, the Jimny comes with an 85bhp, 1300cc petrol and the similarly sized engine from the Swift or Esteem could be possibles for the Jimny in India. Again, the famed 1300cc multijet diesel could be a great option too. The Jimny did appear at the 2004 Auto Expo and was rumoured to be set for a Rs 6-7 lakh price tag.
