I am going to be brutally honest. I have had my eyes on the Swift Diesel that became a member of our BSM fleet in March but just could never get my hands on the keys for more than a couple of days at a time. Everytime I managed to grab the keys, someone or the other would come along and 1'd be handed the keys of the U-VA or the Logan in exchange. But I didn't give up and then finally, after all the waiting I snagged the car.
By this time, it had the Pete's Box installed - thanks Josh. Frankly speaking, I don't know what this box does to the car, but when I reached office the next day, I had to ask the guys. It was obvious, that car had turned into a wild horse. You had to lasso it, because taming it was out of question. I started enjoying every single minute spent in the car and drove more and more. Thankfully, the addition of the Box does not hamper the fuel economy in any major way.
I thoroughly enjoyed driving it in the city (as in she got a full kick out of it - Shumi), and I just knew I had to take it out of the city. The opportunity came when I decided to make a trip to Lonavala with some friends.
What a drive that turned out to be. I got a er ... full kick out of it! It revved and accelerated effortlessly even after 160 kph. But nothing can beat the look on the face of the poor Octavia driver who couldn't believe his eyes when a black Swift diesel overtook him.
Now our Swift has to go back. Suzuki has asked us to return it and this is making me very sad. But the Swift D will be missed tremendously. And not just by me either. It also ends all the shunting of keys in office, all angling for the Swift’s. Now why does it happen to me? Whenever I grow fond of a car and want to drive it for long, it just has to go away and now, why does that sound familiar?
