Don’t look now, but VW’s coming to India in a big way. They’re already here, you’d argue, look at the Passat. But that does not even begin to represent the scope of their Indian ambitions.
No, that job falls to the Jetta, which VW launched on July 16th in Mumbai. One of the company’s most successful models, the Jetta has sold eight million units globally so far, and now, it’s in India.
If you have read our last issue, you will know that we drove it, but that, sadly is not the engine-option, we will be getting. The Jetta is available in three variants and two engine options. The 1.6 litre petrol is available with a 5-speed manual gear box and the 1.9 litre TDI diesel is available with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Prices for the Jetta start at Rs. 12.97 lakh
